Tools, Spares & Care

Tools, Spares & Care – 6.0 kgs

Leatherman ChargeTools, tools, tools. Little ones, big ones, light ones, heavy ones. We have everything a bike mechanic might need for a long bike trip. But let me tell you, I am no bike mechanic! Just because you give a guy a stethoscope, doesn’t make him a doctor.

This was also a fun project, researching and gathering all the tools together. Nice boxes arriving in the mail, containing all sorts or weird and wonderful tools – the Topeak Alien II being my favourite – mainly because of the name. Very cool. The pump is also one of my favourites. With a name like Pocket Rocket Master Blaster, I just had to buy it!

If we do have a breakage more serious than a puncture, there is a good chance I will have the necessary tools and possibly spares to fix it, but that doesn’t even get me close to actually being able to fix the problem. Luckily for us though, I am the sort of person who will stubbornly keep at something until I get it sorted, long after everyone else has given up and gone home. Hopefully I will find a solution in the end, even if it takes a few days. I just hope I won’t have made it worse in the mean time!

And if all else fails, I have a nice big roll of duct tape, that should solve the problem.

I have been told that the tools and spares below should be enough to get us through the smaller crises. There are other bits and bobs that I could include like a chain whip for example, but I can plan my maintenance in advance at which point I can borrow one of these if required.
